One of the most important issues when transferring a child to a new country is their adaptation to a new school. If this adaptation is successful it is halfway to a successful relocation! A school search can be difficult and quite stressful for there are many factors to be considered when choosing the right school for your child: language barriers, cultural differences, school curriculum, etc.

In Portugal the Expatriate community tends to send their children to international schools, due mainly to the language barrier that does not exist in these schools. All international schools recommend that you register your child early and as soon as a relocation assignment has been confirmed.

If you come on a preview trip (recommended), we will be happy to accompany you to the international schools and provide you with an overview of the school and type of curricula. If possible we advise that the expatriate child should also attend the school search to make them feel a part of the decision-making process right from the beginning. In addition to the school’s general application form, most Portuguese schools will require documents such as the child’s report card for the last three years, copy of the child’s birth certificate and a valid passport and/or visa for the child.
